ELA Teachers would love to incorporate STEM into their classrooms, but projects are hard to find! This is a perfect STEM project for ELA teachers! Reading, Writing and Creating their Own Constellations! This project helps ELA teachers incorporate a reading passage about constellations and myths, creating their own constellation, writing their own myth to match their constellation and then using technology to product a 3D printed project of their constellation!

Page 2-3: Allows students to learn a little bit about constellations and myths. Students will also read two short myths about constellations. You could always get a picture book to set the stage for students. There are quite a few picture books that allow kids to hear about popular myths.

Page 4-5: This is a comprehension quick check. This covers TEKS 5.3B, 5.8B, 5.8C, 5.6F and 5.10A There is also an answer key. The questions accompany the reading passage on page 2 and 3.

Page 6-7: This is where students will create a constellation based on their name. Students will follow the directions.

Page 8-9: These are examples to help you understand and the kids to understand how to make the constellation using their name.

Page 10-12: Myth writing activity- Students will make up a myth about their constellation that they created on page 6 and 7.

Page 13-14: 3D Printing activity- Google Ready- This slide show leads students to create their own constellations using Tinkercad. Tinkercad is a free online based software. You will need a 3D printer in order to complete this part of the project.

•You do not have to have your kids use the 3D printing activity. You could have them produce their constellations using glow in the dark stickers or glue. The way students produce their constellation is completely up to you. The 3D Printing is just an option.
